| ITS YOUR LIFE. TEAM DETAILS. We are a team who specialise in awareness sessions for youths we engage in various youth establishments we are based on Teesside and we are fully trained. Our education and awareness sessions include: Knife culture. Violence. Anti-social behaviour. Hit and run-Twoc. Drugs. Alcohol. Bullying. Anger Management. Diversity. Control. Respect. Street be safe skills. Conflict resolution. Our team are volunteers and we are a none profit making organisation we educate from our own experience of tragedy and we are professionally trained to give our youths some awareness about the dangers in society. We use specialised packages for different age groups. We also do sessions with parents and Adults. Our counselling services cover, grief, complicated grief, depression, drugs and alcohol, eating disorders, self harm, self help and insight into anxiety, relaxation sessions. With a qualified elective counsellor.B.A.C. Also 3 of the team are trained in defence techniques. Our Aims. We are a service that offers extensive specialised awareness to Schools, Collages, Universities, youth clubs, and youth services across Teesside. We are fully trained and have the appropriate qualifications to work with youths and (CRB). Each of the team will cover certain issues within their field of training and experience. We will work along side other services to present a certain issue from an hostilic angle within our sessions. We are linked to the national and regional crime stoppers. PRESTON YOUTHS ANTI-KNIFE DVD. Each issue is presented separately so our awareness can be in block session's or a single session where required. We do recognise there are excellent services available our team will enhance these services and keep the awareness consistant. Barbara will be teaching awareness about knife crime she will be teaching teenager's and adult's the danger's of carrying a knife. Also drug and alcohol awareness and anger management. Barbara is a trained psychiatric nurse and a university trained person centred counsellor .She has co-ordinated group work in anxiety,depression,anger management, drugs, alcohol, and behaviour. As a counsellor she is elective within the person centred frame work and specialises in all issues. The tragic death of her son in 2003 who was stabbed in the back led Barbara to lead a national campaign against knife crime and was successful in achieving a ban on replica weapons that serve no purpose in our society. Claire will be teaching the primary age group the dangers of stealing and driving a car underage. She works in a primary area in a school and has produced previous awareness at primary level. Claire tragically lost her 8 year old son in a hit and run by an underage driver in a stolen car. KAY BOYLE. Public relations for the "ITS YOUR LIFE" committee. Kay works with primary children she uses the same techniques as in play with primary age and activities. She will focus on issues such as violence and assault linking the anger. Kay lost her father through violence from anger so she is well aware of the consequences. Kay has worked for 7 years with primary age and 6 years in an after school club her present employment is with nursery children for 2 years. JAMIE HARRISON. Ken is a professional martial arts combat instructor with 40 years’ experience teaching everyone from the military, security personnel and bodyguards to the every day man or woman. Ken, who now lives in Yarm, said: “The first thing I would say to anyone is, if you are facing a knife, run! “But you can’t always run away - what if you are up against a wall?” He has improvised these techniques for youth awareness. "What it will do is arm you with the skills to defend yourself if you are ever in the position where you have no other option."
